8 Hour Mental Health Awareness – Refresher Class – 1 full day (0800-1630); POST approved

This 8-hour class is helpful in understanding the basics of mental illness. The class will cover an overview of mental illness: schizophrenia and psychotic disorders, mood disorders, cognitive disorders, personality disorders, and substance disorders. We will look at the causes and nature of the illnesses, typical patterns of behavior, common medications, and guidelines for officer response.

This class is used as a refresher for those who have taken the 40-hour certification class.

POST members who complete this class will will receive 8 hours of continuing education credits.
