Steve is the Clinical Director for MN CIT and has earned a Master’s degree and is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. He retired as a Sergeant with the Minneapolis Police Department in 2014 after 27 years. He worked various positions within the department including street patrol, street supervisor, investigations, research and development, training unit, narcotics, and the organized crime unit. He finished his last 13 years as the department counselor providing mental health services to employees and their family members. He also supervised the department CIT program for 9 years.
Steve has been with MN CIT since it was founded in 2005 and is also a co-founder of the organization. In his role as Clinical Director he is responsible for the content of training materials and presentations. Steve supervises the personnel of MN CIT that presents the training material.
In his previous law enforcement career, Steve was involved in CIT before MN CIT and he co-founded the organization because he believes in the cause of public safety personnel responding to crisis calls safely and helping people in crisis the best they can.
