Michael is the Executive Director for MN CIT and has been with the organization since the very beginning as one of the founders in 2006. He views his role of Executive Director as one to encourage and support all partners in CIT to build a compassionate response to crisis situations.
One of the reasons he continues to further the mission of MN CIT is that he enjoys seeing first responders re-engage and develop new skills and approaches to helping people and themselves when faced with crisis incidents. MN CIT training provides attendees a approach the helps them interact and encourage in a positive way.
Michael has a long career in law enforcement in both the metro area and rural Minnesota, as well as fire and ems services, retiring after 20 years. He is also a licensed marriage and family therapist.
His favorite quote comes from an anonymous source, “Compassion is at the heart of every little thing we do. It is the dearest quality we possess. Yet all too often it can be cast aside with consequences too tragic to speak of. To lose our compassion, we lose what it is to be human.”
